Aspy Bay, Dingwall, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada

Sunset on the beach on a cold, windy evening. The first time my family and I visited Cape Breton, we stayed in a cabin near this beach. The pointed mountain to the left is called Sugar Loaf. I am very glad we stopped by this place again..... This time I had my Pentax 67II and Velvia50.

Pentax 67II
Pentax 67 55-100mm
Velvia 50
Lee 1.5-Stop HE Gradient

Thanks for having a look.

That's really gorgeous Eva. Love the grasses and the dunes your blacks are nice and neutral and everything looks spot on to me. It looks so very like the beach near Luskentyre on that stormy looking morning on Harris.

Eva, I'm just enjoying looking at this. The feel of this is so nice that I feel like I'm there, and that is wonderful. The large version even lets me feel the grains in the sand. :toast:

This is beautifully done, Eva. The cool tones in this scene are fantastic and I particularly love the hint of warmth in the clouds. :toast:

I knew this was velvia from the thumbnail. I just love the way velvia handles these situations --- subtle, but with a very 3D feel to those lovely tones in the foreground. I'm really liking the color and texture of the clouds, and how it all matches the color of the foreground sand. This has a very calm and tranquil feel to it, which I really enjoy.

I really like the perspective here on this one, Eva. I think for me what makes the FG work so well is the spacing of the grasses. I think if it were all solid it would not have the same feel to the scene. Excellent colors throughout from the V-50 too. Looks as though the grad was perfect for the exposure latitude also. Very nice work overall.

Many thanks everyone!

Hi Ian - This beach does very much look like that stormy Luskentyre morning on Harris now that you mentioned it. Much smaller scale but the mood is certainly the same.

Certainly looks like a beautiful spot Eva, I think you've done a great job in capturing this. Although you say it was cold and windy, there is a peaceful and silent mood to this. The sky/clouds look real nice.

Very nice mood Eva, and I particularly like the FG grasses along with the stormy sky. Beautiful scene and beautifully presented.
