Frozen Universe #2

Here's a close up look (magnification about 1/2 life size) at some thicker ice with lots of interesting structures from a month ago. Again the colors come from hardy lily leaves that were growing prior to all of our cold weather. This is an 8 shot stack to get bottom to top sharpness. (5D3, 100mm macro L, 0.6s, f/13, iso 200, tripod, cable release, mirror lockup, and polarizer)

I love things like this in general, and this image in particular, because they can be so evocative for the imagination. Here one can think of this as not frozen but maybe some sort of gelatinous structure under the sea.

I really enjoyed looking at the larger version. Rich blend of contrasts in colors and forms. A wonderful abstract.

I like John's comment about it being like some sort of gelatinous structure. After reading that, I now see the top of a nice jello salad, with some fruit visible. These "icestracts" of yours are very unique and beautiful due to the colors that come through from under the surface. . . and of course your photography skills. Your stacking provides great details which help make these images really "sing" too. Nice work, Mark!

Those colors are incredible! And I like the contrast of the silvery bubbles. It does look almost gelatinous!

Another superb image Mark. I like everything about your icescapes. This one and the one posted earlier are well done. Colors, DOF, stacking - all are mighty fine.

A beautiful abstract from nature Mark. I especially enjoyed the level of detail in the larger version; my eyes wanted to explore each nook and cranny. Congrats on your recognition!
