The Window

'The Window' was taken in Big Bend National Park in the Chisos Basin the last day of January. I was there for a sunset, but the sky was disappointing. It was almost dark when I shot this. C/C welcomed.

I didnt get much of a sunset when i was there a few years back either, but it certainly is a cool view. I think the sky here is complimentary to the barren landscape. I like the warm murky colorcast here and the darkness looks just right to me. Minor nit: ideally the left cliff might work better a little higher up, so that the 'window' frames the distant valley. Very nice!

Dottie, I'm really enjoying this window view of a wonderful landscape. Like Stan, I think this sky works really nice with the rest of the scene. There is a softness to the light and color out the window that is quite pleasing for me. Very nice.

Very nice mix of warm muted tones here Dottie with a beautiful framed view. Looks like a wonderful place to see. Really nicely done.

I like the incredible depth and warm feel to the image. The composition is quite nice as well with the rocks framing the landscape beyond.

Lovely layers and color contrasts. I am amazed at the degree of sharpness throughout at 200 mm, I was expecting to see a wide angle or ultra wide angle focal length. I guess the f/11 did it for you.

I would encourage anyone viewing this to spend some time with the larger view; it is spectacular!

Your quote of Henri Cartier-Bresson applies to this image, methinks; it is breath-taking  :toast: :jump:
