Deer Reflection, with repost

I went for a ride this afternoon after work and came upon 4 deer hanging out along the riverbank. Got a couple of shots of them before they became aware of me. This one seemed the best one. It's cropped quite a bit leaving out two deer that weren't important to this one with its reflection.

Very pleasant scene Christine, I like the way this says late winter/early spring with the melting snow and open water. The shimmering reflection is wonderful. I do like the single deer in the composition, kudos for keeping things as simple and uncluttered as possible. Alternatively, a few extra deer in a broader scene could be interesting as well - you got me curious about the original image.

Gary, here is the original. I like this wider angle quite well but I'm thinking the other deer takes something away from the reflective deer. My eyes go automatically to the two deer on the left.

Hi Chris, I think you were right to crop out the other two deer, although it may be interesting to see what a shot of the reflected deer together with the one peeking out of the bush may look like. I like the reflection and for me the diagonal lines strengthen this image. Nicely done.

Really nice composition. Glad you were able to capture the reflection which really adds to the image. You really know how to shoot against a snowy background! Do you have your exposure settings to help me learn from them?

Nice work catching these deer. I like both scenes, the reflection highlights the cropped scene well, though.

Very good! I like both versions. Agree you know how to handle snow. Good detail for the amount of crop. Wish I had taken it. Just for the heck of it, try cropping this as a vertical, might be interesting. Thanks for sharing.
