through the fog

This is the start of a small serie about trees in the winter. Actually I had totally different plans on that morning but once again the weather didn't want to corporate. I think this was my luck. This one was taken just after sunrise on a cold land foggy winter morning in the swiss Jura mountain of Solothurn.I have another one where the tree is even more isolated.

Gorgeous Bill. Beautiful composition and the foggy BG really makes the tree "pop". I'm glad you left this in color because the subtle browns of the tree are wonderful.

I think the BG compliments the tree very well. Very nice job on this one.

Bill, This is excellent! The background is perfect for setting this lone tree apart. The color in the tree (as Bill mentioned) really works nice here. I'm really enjoying this one. :toast:

There is so much depth in this image! I love the subtleness of the trees in the back, and the fog is magical. It really helps enhance the textures and shape of the tree. Wonderful work!

The fog and BG trees really set the mood for this beauty, Bill. This is a fantastic winter scene. :toast: This is being super picky, but you have a dust spot about in the middle of the snow.

Nice simple and effective composition. I like the how sharp the tree is because it really pops from the background in the fog.

A convincing composition for me, Bill. The background trees make for an excellent counterpoint to the bare tree to my eye. The subtle colors add a lot to the atmospehre in my opinion.

This is beautiful Bill. I like the ethereal mood and stark conditions of the scene. The foreground tree is well placed.

I agree with everyone else.

But, it does give one a sense of a camera askew, doesn't it? You know, perhaps the need for a perspective crop adjustment or a free transform?

((( (Just kidding, Bill (Roland)) :)) - we need to have balanced parenthses....)

The sense of uprightness comes from what we can still see, through the fog, on the left of the image; so it is through the fog with these trees that we get our sense of what is straight up.

Nice job, Roland.

Simple, almost elegant, a fine winter shot, and it looks quite cold!

I'm a sucker for stark winter trees and this works beautiful. The background trees fine contrast to foreground subject. Wonder what a b& w might look like.
