Twin Falls

This was our first trip to Kure Mountains National Park. It is a relatively well protected but I guess not an extensively photographed place. We were searching around the park to find some shooting locations. I was expecting to shoot some fall foliage and mountains around the park. But we heard about a small canyon and decided to explore.

There were lots of small pools in this canyon and we traveled downstream to find a meaningful scene. After a while we were quite surprised to find these 'Twins'. It was not an easy location for shooting. First I settled on a large rock which was directly facing to the 'Twins', then I lay down to find a suitable framing.

What a great subject. Good job on the find. I like the framing but I feel it could use a tad more breathing room- it's very tight on the left side near the bottom. It also seems a bit soft in the area of the top falls/wall area.

I can see where it must've been a comp dilemma at first, but you did very well with it. What a magical place.

Very well composed and exposed. The FG detail is great, and the creamy falls are excellent. Good choice to go with BW. I like the splash patterns of the lower fall as it hits the pool, wonder if a slower exposure could have made that pool surface softer?

It's so cool seeing these spots i may never get to visit! I really like the comp here--it flows well. It's hard to critique a B&W without seeing the color, but i do have an observation: I find it problematic that the falls here are almost less bright than the rocks on the side--this takes away the focus on the falls, and that's where the focus should be; the rocks are cool but they support the falls. So, what i might do is find the channel corresponding to the rocks (red, yellow, as opposed to blue, most likely) and reduce that. I think with the right conversion this could be awesome. :wavey:

Excellent comp and looks like a great place.Really nicely done. I might darken the foreground rocks a bit but very nice as is Serkan.

Wonderful image and awesome spot, Serkan. My only nit is that the image, especially the rocks, looks like it could use some sharpening.

A truly wonderful composition here, Serkan. I really like the fact that you left the thin slice of FG in view as an excellent upfront framing area. The image works very well in the B&W and larger version also.

What a cool find, Serkan. Your placement of the falls in this scene works beautifully. My only suggestion would be to brighten the white of the falls just a bit. BTW, the B&W works very well.
