With the recent posts of the eastern form (“Myrtle” Warbler) in the Avian Gallery, I thought I’d add this western form (“Audubon’s” Warbler).
This is a common species in the lowlands of AZ in winter, and we usually get one or two hanging out in our yard every year. This is a male and shows the bright yellow throat that is the easiest way to separate them from the eastern form (which we also get in much smaller numbers).
If I’m quick with my gear and the glass is relatively clean I can sometimes catch them taking a bath in the water feature near our patio.
