Green Heron

I revisited a photo shoot from last Sept. when I was able to take many images of a Green Heron at the refuge. During the course of an hour or more he worked the shoreline very close to my auto, often requiring me to backup and put more distance between us to meet my lens minimum focusing distance (what a terrible problem to have!) This image has had about a 20% crop for composition.

These are the sort of Heron I would love to see and the tri-colour. Nice to get them this close Craig even for the 600mm. Great shot and the selective focus is bang on the eye. Nice.

All the best Craig, would love to see one.

Danny.

The head turn adds to the composition here. Good sharpness where it counts (good long lens tech to do so at 1/20). The cattail on the right invades slightly onto the body of the heron, should have slipped it into reverse and moved about one foot..

Nice detail on the eye and where it counts. Love that color pattern on the feathers. These are a favorite of mine! Sharon
