Palmetto Scene

Sorry for being missing from NPN so much lately. I'm revamping my website and it seems to be taking every spare minute! :frown:

My wife and I did manage to get away a little this past weekend and head to the swamps and marshes to play a little though. the weather was kind of sketchy much of the time but we did have glimpses of nice weather throughout the time. This is a scene so common here in Florida, but the greenery looks so nice I just had to capture it. Hope you enjoy...

Please view LARGE version for better detail.

Only nice if you have never walked through it; brushed up against a guinea wasp nest; loaded your britches up with seed ticks; heard a rattlesnake you couldn't see; baked your brain in the shade-less heat; tripped over a hidden root; I could go on!! Whew! Glad I got that out of my system! Nice landscape, Bill!

Very interesting, Bill. The light quality makes this one almost look like a computer generated image. I like it and it definitely has a unique look about it.

Bill, I'm really enjoying this scene. I like your comp a lot and the color and light look great. I also like the textures shown in the tree bark, especially on the large version. Glad you got out for a little shooting and had a break from working on your website.

The beam of light reflecting off the palmettos does a nice job of illuminating the tree trunks, Bill. Additionally the natural tree spacing here allows for an unrestricted view of the main subjects, that being the palmetto growth. A bit of a different look of Florida we typically do not see.

Very pleasing scene. :wavey:
My personal taste would crop the sliver of sky at top that draws the eye away from the palmettos.

Beautiful intimate image Bill, I would go along with Rick and crop that sliver of sky/BG at the top.

Love the vibrancy and depth Bill. It has an almost 3D appearance.

Really like the detail and textures Bill. Like the framing also. The lighting gives it a 3D effect which is really nice. Great job.

Really like this, Bill--some sweet detail! I tried a screen crop off the top, and it doesnt work for me, feels incomplete--i think it really needed just a tiny bit more up top....oh well! iIt's still quite nice!

Beautiful scene. Great greens and contrasts. And, the comp creates a lot of depth.

I really like the depth and color here. Blue near the top maybe feels a bit distracting.

You have a way with these classic Florida landscapes that always make me want to jump in the car and head east. Love the pine trunks against the vibrant greens.

My first thought when seeing this was that it was very painterly light. Nice scene and beautiful processing.
