Distant Memory!

Well, with sunny and 79 conditions here today, I'm wondering if we're ever really going go get a Winter here. It's been very dry and warm the last month and a half around here. So, I'm resorting to files from the winter of 2011!!!! This one here was on my wish list, and the conditions were wonderful for my first real shoot in winter conditions. 4 or 5 verticals stitched to make a nice 34 inch pano.

D200,
18-70mm,
1/10sec, F/11,

Thanks,
Chris

Excellent details and processing, as usual, Chris. Looks like a find line between seeing the snowy trees and losing them in the background, but you walked that line perfectly. A 34" print, eh? Not big enough!

Winter in my neck of the woods seems to have gone the same way. I was just on the outside edge of all the big northeastern snow falls this year.

Hey Wayne, thanks!

Not big enough huh? Well keep in mind it was the D200, and not the D800. But the 34 inches is without increasing the file size, and could easily be pushed to 60!, I agree with you though, I would probably never print it at 34.

A fairly brilliant pano, Chris with the musical score rising to a crescendo at the foremost tree and a release beyond to the right.

Bravo! :toast: :toast:

Thanks Matt!

I don't think you need to categorize it, just plain freak sums it up, I think! But, from what I can tell, you're the kind of freak I'd enjoy hangin' out with.

Beautiful, moody winter scene! I like that big, old tree, and how the others line up behind it.

Hey Chris, We didn't have much of a winter last year but this year has been great. I hope you still get some of it!
This is a beautiful winter scene by the way. The larger version is a treat to look at. :toast:

The gentle increase in size of the trees from left to right is so graceful and serene, Chris, and the line of trees seems to be almost floating in a sea of winter white. Fabulous work.

I'm running way behind on commenting lately, but this one really stood out. Absolutely gorgeous Chris. I would love to see a really large pano of this.
