I feel so fortunate to have stopped to look at your image, Jim; It is one of the most memorable I've seen in awhile.
"Ripples" is a great name for it. Another might be "Waves", referencing the dual nature of light and how everything in our visual experience is but a reflection; in this case waves reflecting upon waves.
This image makes me think of calligraphy and perhaps arabic calligraphy in particular, which is ironic in that this is the surface of water.
I love how you have the pure waves themselves in the upper portion of the frame, shown by highlight and shadow, which are subsequently responsible for the "distortions" within which the reflection of the tree arises below. One could conceive of those waves as representative of clouds in the sky above this wavy tree, I think.
I would suggest maybe a very thin black strike to form a frame around it.

I would have sworn by the thumbnail this was cracks in the desert. Very clever and also very graphic.

Hi all,
I didn't read the comments till today. I originally posted this in the Landscapes gallery because there was really almost no processing here, but Jim thought this is where it would belong. So I forgot all about it.
Anyway, thanks for the kind words and for the just found out WP. An honor indeed.
