NZ Sacred Kingfisher coming up with a small crab.

So after 43 years of macro only, enter the world of avain...... I must be completely mad

A bit of a balancing act this one with the comp. I wanted to keep the splash in the shot, so caught between keeping it or not.

All the best folks .

Danny.

Sony NEX-7, Canon FD 500 F/4.5L, 1/3200, ISO 200, hand held and manual focus, cropped.

Great shot Danny! I am amazed at your steady hands as I know how hard these shots are to achieve!

Nice timing to get this action. I like the flight pose and iridescent color shine. I think it would benefit from more room in front of the bird if you have it as I think the image would stand on it's own without the water splash.

Howdy Toya, didn't know you were here and always good to see you. Heck this was the first forum I was ever on

Thanks Jim. I agree and have cropped that way as well. This one I just wanted the splash in. You are right though and It probably does look better cropped that way Thanks Jim.

Great action, Danny. I wish there were a touch more room on the right, but I also like all the water splashing on the left. Excellent detail.

Nice Danny. Great action and a tough capture. I like the comp, but as others have mentioned, more bird and room in front is another option.
