Just In Case

I'm so far behind, I'm still sorting through images from last spring.

June in Yellowstone is prime time for baby animals, including black bear cubs. On this particular trip we saw six sows with cubs of the year (i.e., new cubs). This was the closest encounter, as a sow with a single cub were approaching the road just as we arrived. They didn't mind our presence, but the moment a band of Harleys rumbled up, the cub got nervous and went for the nearest tree.

Great capture of the expression. It makes the image.
The out of focus stone (?) is slightly distracting to me but I guess the comp will get too tight in the bottom cropping it.

The cuteness factor can carry this one! Neat expression and pose.

Excellent composition Max, simple and effective. Nice background and the leaning tree is interesting and lends a sense of scale. Looks like he's poised to run up the tree but is assessing the threat before making the vertical escape. Love to join the tour, but I'll be working.... :jump: (sarcasm) :frown:
