#573 Camo Spruce Grouse

I was walking down an old overgrown highway, taking autumn landscape photos when something fluttered right by my ear and startled me. I looked up to find this Spruce Grouse hen in the tree branches only about 10 feet from me. I slowly brought up the camera and moved carefully a little closer and to the left to get around a branch that was in front of it and it just sat there staring at me. I managed to get this one shot before it flew off.

Gary, Like the nice sharp detail here. I also like how the only green leaves are beside the grouse helping to draw your eye in. This hen blends in nicely to her surrounding. :toast:

This is actually a very nice autumn scene in addition to one showing camouflage. :smile: I like the yellow leaves against the off-white background and the comp of the branches is nice too. The Spruce Grouse just adds a real nice extra touch to this fall image! Great focus on the Grouse and good placement of the bird in the image. Fine image, Gary!

The background is wonderfully patterned and nicely sharp and the grouse blends in well. Congrats on being able to stalk this bird.

Did you say there was a spruce grouse in this photo? Hard to see until you "discover" it. Love the detail and the colors here, especially in the large version. Well done Gary.

And what a shot it is! Love the pattern of the branches as an artistic aspect. The Grouse is just gorgeous. Fine shot.
