Walrus, Round Island, Alaska.
EOS 1N, 600/4 IS w/ 1.4x, Provia 100 + 1, spot metered.
A tight shot of a walrus bull I singled out from many that were hauled out on a beach.

Wonderful!!! Looks like you told him a pretty funny joke to get him to pose like this.
Nice to see something different here.

Jess,
Not sure if you are aware of the situation at Round Island. It is managed by the State Fish and Game and permits are available like at McNeil, although, they are undersubscribed. So apply early enough and you can get any time slot you want. It is expensive to get there and rules are strict. You can't get down on the beaches and generally have to shoot from cliffs above the haul outs. Some of these cliffs are quite low and if walrus are in the right place, they might be only 15 yards away and almost eye level. With a big lens, however, you can get good shots from several locations and the high angle does not seem like too much of a problem. This photo was taken from one of the higher cliffs. The puffins are a huge fringe benefit to the trip as well

As a bird guy, I'd say the walrus were the fringe benefit to the Puffins!
