Storm Over the Rockies

I took this on one of my only 2 trips to the Rockies. It is a stitched together pano. ...the sky in too grainy and some of the features are soft, colors very intense as I over-processed this . But, it elicits the magic I felt traveling along this amazing mountain range. The original files are "lost " on my PC, so I have not been able to try this again. And I don't think I want to, since it shows the strange lighting and mood of the day, oh so well.

in my mind, if it elicits a response, you have done your job. I like it!

I agree, this has captured the mood or 'atmosphere' of the day nicely.
I like that light play across the mountains, and the foreboding or 'stormy' sky :wavey:

The small version does not do it justice. The large version really brings out some of the details nicely. I agree that the sky is the problem area for this image, maybe try some selective noise reduction on it.

Lucy, I certainly understand. I have pictures of distant mountains from some of my Alaska trips, and certainly of the weather (like yours over the Rockies). I may never make it back there, but the memories are precious.

This is a beautiful scene you have captured, Lucy! Even though photos can never do these kinds of scenes justice, the larger version does make it. . .almost. . .feel like you are there. I can see why this would be a favorite for you even if not technically perfect. Wonderful lighting on those snow-covered mountains and the sky does feel quite moody.
