Does the high key treatment suit this purple anemone ? - would welcome views on that especially.

Canon 400D, 100mm Macro lens, 1/5 sec @ f9, 1.67ev, tripod, Helicon stack, some added glow.

To address your question first, I'm not sure I would label this image as "high key." But whatever semantics you might choose, I do think your presentation works. Stacking makes a big difference, and I'm so glad to see all in focus. Your choice of background color (which appears as a very pale grayish blue) is very complimentary to the flower. Your processing of the anemone, itself, is superb. Detail & contrast couldn't be better. So call it what you want, the effect does work, IMO.

Oh...I do have one very minor nit, and that is the extension of the flower's stem below your outlining pinstripe. I've seen images which look ok using this technique, but in this case, there's such a small area between the pinstripe and the image edge, that the stem just looks like a mistake.

I think your high key treatment works well here, Ian. I like that it's not totally white and how the background coordinates with the central ring in the petals. I also like how the flower angles across the frame.

I have yet to see one of your high key treatments that does not work:) I really like how this one fills the frame & the stacking looks perfect!

Off color background + entire flower in focus and filling the frame = very nice image. Job well done.

I think your high key treatment works very well here, Ian. I also like the colors and the diagonal comp.

Ian:

I do like this portrait. The almost white bg echo the white ring in the center.

I sometime play around with a trick I learnt from Gigi by doing an inversion in Lab color using the luminosity channel only to change the white to black bg and see what this would look like in 'low key' using the same image.

Ian: My only issue with this image is there is no large version to show off the wonderful detail in the center. Superb stacking job and a very pleasing shot IMO. >=))>

Nobody does Anemones any better than you, Ian. Another strikingly beautiful image. The detail in the center and the glow you added make this one exceptional! :toast:
