How come all the South of The Border countries get all the exotic birds? A sturdy looking fellow. Sweet detail and perfectly exposed and composed.

New bird to me, too. Well worth the look. I love the chin and the contrasty chest feathers! The BG exposure is perfect

Excellent shot, I wish I had been into photography when I spent three years in Panama (Fort Clayton) back in 81-84. I'm kicking myself everyday because of what I allowed myself to miss out on!! Well done!

I like this bird a lot. Never seen one before. Nicely exposed. The background is a bit distracting for me. If it had more green like at the top close to the tree, I think it would have made a better presentation. However, we can't control everything. Nice shot.

Excellent work finding this skulky species out in the open, and great use of the opportunity you got.

Excellent flash and exposure work here Chuck, stunning bird too. The only thing I would wonder about is the iso and therefore shutter speed are very low for this camera's abilities, it didn't hurt you here but no reason not to have a higher iso and shutter speed with that camera.

I love this picture of both the bird and also the colors of the bark and stripped areas of the tree. Both images complement one another. How fortunate you were to be in that part of the world and have so many great photographic opportunities which obviously you capitalized on. There is also something compelling about the facial expression of the bird which draws me in. A great image which makes me smile.
