I haven't posted in this gallery for a long time but thought I'd share this one. Taken in the Cradle Mountain National Park in Tasmania a couple of days ago. I've gotten quite fond of these guys and more photos can be seen here if you're interested.

Nice photo of a seldom seen critter! I like the point of view, but do wish the rock was not right in front of the echidna. Thanks for sharing.

What a delight to have such a view of what to most of the world is an exceptionally exotic species! If this is a crop, a little more space in front of the subject for his to potentially walk into would give a better sense of breathing room. In a perfect world (and maybe a larger edition would show it) a catch light in the eye would add a sparkle of life, too. Thanks for sharing this great subject.

Appears to be mid day lighting, not always the photographer's best friend due to the contrast. But, nice look at a very specialized and unique animal. Had a look at some of the other echidna photos on your website; must say that I prefer some of the images showing these animals in the larger landscape, really stunning. Nice seeing you back at the site Neale. :wavey:

Great shot, Neale, although I agree it needs a little more space, especially at the bottom and left.
