First attempt!!

My first attempt at shooting ice. Not ideal to use my truck window (which was dirty). I just wanted to see how they would turn out. I think next I will get a one foot square of glass and darken one side, then see what happens. C&C welcome...

Canon 5D MKII, older EF100 2.8 macro @ 100mm, 1/5sec, f4.5, iso 50(L), AP, Eval metering, tripod and cable release, about 30% of full frame.

I remember trying the same thing (frost on my truck window) one winter..
Didn't turn near as nice though.
Well done David! :wavey:

I love the shot and the asymmetrical crystals. The pane plan sounds like a good one, but I like graded background here. I would say take care with your backgrounds and try to not make them look artificial.

This is excellent, Dave! The crystals are nicely scattered throughout the frame and there's lots of details.

Way to go David!! Love the light and detail. You might want to try your bg at different lengths from the glass. Just a suggestion.

I think your dirty truck window worked out fine! It doesn't even look dirty! I like the irregular shapes here and the way parts of the flakes are translucent & other parts seem opaque.
