I am not any more suggesting that my view is more "right" than theirs than I would suggest that the color of the sky is more "right" than that of the grass or that of dandelion flowers; just different.
To my eye and mind, this image is anything but calm and peaceful; it is decidely dynamic and off-balance. I see this not only in the slope of the hill that makes me almost lean towards the right while viewing it to keep my balance, but also in the lean of that tree that way in the background right. We are definitely going somewhere next, not sitting down and stopping here to admire the scenery.
And so what I find intriguing about this image is exactly this dynamic tension in the eye and mind between wanting to stay to savor these beautiful lavendar flowers on this sunlit hill under the shade of these summer trees, but the recognition of the need to move on up that hill to discover whay lies beond the frame.
Now that I stop to think of it, I'm reminded of Robert Frost's famous, simple poem, Stopping by Woods... in which he says,
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
For me, in this image, I find the same dynamic tension.
