Short-billed Dowitcher at Dunedin Causeway, Florida

1/2000 at f5.6 and ISO200 EC -1
Canon 500mm with 1.4 TC
Canon 7d

When I first saw the thumbnail, I was ready to delete it thinking the wing was hiding the face. However, when I took a closer look at it, I saw the eye peeking through the feathers. Wishingg for a bit more DoF but I do like the eye peeking through the wing. Looks better in the larger view

Wonderful pose, Scott. I love the peek-a-boo look and the slightly blurred wings imply action. Good job.

Terrific pose - I'm glad you kept it and posted it here. I might do a little careful work to lighten the face just a bit.

The wing blur enhances the feeling of mystery that the hiding eye suggests. But I'd also lighten the face a bit. Good save, Scott.
