S. White-crowned Shrike

Here's another image of the Southern White-crowned Shrike from our Namibia tour that I posted earlier. This image is 2 frames after he took off from a thorn tree. It was tight on the left so I added some canvas there. About 50% of FF

I knew this photo was yours before seeing the name attached to it... really wonderful capture. The stick doesn't bother me so much - but it would probably be better without it. Head turn really makes the shot.

Wonderful flight image Nate, great details & use of F/5
Nice wings up pose, head turn, and catch-light there also.
I would prefer the small branch URC out, just my preference though.
Way to go man

Very nice! Great body/wing position to show off so many features and plumage.

Exceptional pose, and great eye contact.
A very beautiful bird!
Not sure the stick in the upper right adds anything.. I'd also get rid of it.

Great image! Not sure about the branch...without it, we have a bird in a takeoff position and not knowing from where! Super head turn, nice light, bg and details. Well captured! Sharon

Good detail and head turn. Excellent flight shot. I recognize the impulse to leave the thorny branch in, both as a point of departure and a favored perch, but I would wish for either more or none at all.

everything about the bird is great--head turn, wing, tail, and foot position. nice bg, and I have no objection to the stick.

It is a great shot considering it is hand held .... the lens is quite heavy and getting such good sharpness is wonderful....

Killer flight shot Nate  The turned head makes this shot for me. I like the slight motion blur of the wings too.

Sweet One!!!

Really nice flight shot Nate. I really like the head turn. I don't have a single flight shot of ANY bird with them looking at me in the process. Maybe I need ot call them a name as they fly by? Maybe you'll let me in on your secret?
All kidding aside....techs and comp all hot the mark for me Nate. Nice work!
