Blue Goose
by Dennis Plank
Or blue morph of the Snow Goose, actually. Another one from Bosque del Apache in January. Oddly, on reviewing my images I got absolutely nothing on geese taking off-just landing. While they often take off en masse, they do occasionally go a few at a time. A huge oversight on my part. Luckily, I don't have to go as far for Snow Geese as I do for Cranes.
I like the ruffled feathers and the forward wing position in this one.
1DIV, 500mm ISL + 1.4TC. Black Widow on RRS legs. f8, 1/2500, iso 400, manual exposure. Cropped to 6.8 MP. Normal processing in CS5. Taken at Bosque del Apache at 4:48 PM on January 22nd (my last session of the trip).
Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.
Thanks for looking,

Really nice wing position, great colours and BG.
How about leveling the water line a bit?

Great comp, details, and use of the strong directional light.
It's helped to create an appealing 3D look with its light/shadow mix.
Well done Dennis
PS - Good call on the tilt/shift man
