Bonaventure Statuary

by Philip Hodgkins

Bonaventure Cemetery is an historic cemetery occupying a large bluff overlooking the Wilmington River in Savannah, GA. The older part has many classic examples of burial statuary. The physical site is Live oaks, Spanish moss, azaleas and camellias. Quite often, tourists and locals will do a bit of impromptu decorating.

This is an HDR construct of five images at 1 EV intervals. The final editing of the 32 bit image was edited in Lightroom and finished in NIK Color Efex Pro 4.0 via CS6. Nikon D300s, Tamron 90mm/2.8 macro lens, f/7.1, 1/25 to 1/200 sec. Tripod, remote release. 58% of full frame.

This is a lovely image, and you have processed both the statuette and the flowers quite well.

This is gorgeous, Phil Hodgkins; masterful. I have the same lens you used, and it's a great one, but I think the key to your success in this is the editing.

Extradinorary image, so expressive and lovely.

I really like the contrast between the flower colors and the soft, muted tones of the carved rock. The image works quite well.

Gorgeous image! I would prefer a little crop off of the top, but otherwise this is stunning!
