Windy Grass Oklahoma

On a trip to Oklahoma a few years ago I was able to visit Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge just outside of Cherokee, Ok. This photograph was taken in September, the grass was still showing some green but was beginning to turn a golden brown. The coloring is what attracted me to make this image. The wind always seems to be blowing in this part of Oklahoma, this day was no different, the wind gave the grass some interesting motion. Thanks for looking and comments are always welcome.

David: One must view the larger version to really appreciate this. Fine light and superb details. 2 thumbs up. >=))>

I agree with Bill that the true greatness of this image is best shown in the large file. It's amazing to me how much interest is generated by grass! The detail and crispness front to back, the sense of motion and delicate color changes all work so well for me.

I also agree with Bill; you need to look at the big image to see the best of this image. It's really unique. I have tried several times to get photos of tall grass blowing in the wind, and I've never been happy with my results. The neat thing in this image is how some of it is blurred, and some of it is still, and that gives some good definition to the it. Nicely done. I never would have imagined that it would be 1/30 sec!

Well done, indeed! The only thing I could wish for is a place for the eye to stop and rest, and not be pulled off the frame. :toast:

David:
This is a beauty best seen in the larger image. Lots of details and many shades of colors. I find I like the image more when cropped pano excluding the lower 1/4 of the image. The pano give this a more wide vista feel.

Lovely image, David ! The sweep of the grasses and their varied, subtle tones fills the frame in a most satisfying way, with some fine detail throughout. That shadowed area is so helpful, too, in giving a point of rest for the eye.
