Shallow Sky

This was taken early 2011 here in CO. This plant, having lost its leaves, made an interesting subject, sitting about 15'-30' out in the lake. I liked the reflection, and color gradient on the water, and tried to make the branches stand out against it.

Let me know what you think.
Oh, and please suggest image titles.

Canon Rebel XSI (yep, before the 60d took over) 55-250mm @ 65mm
ISO 100 --- f/13 --- 1/30 sec. ---

Very nice, Nathan. I like the soft light here with the subtle color gradient that you mention. The thing that captures my eye the most, though are the nice ripples which lead my eye throughout the scene.

This is nice Nathan. I like the light and color very much. The reflection of the branches in the rippled water looks great! Nice work!

Nathan, I enjoy the calm atmosphere in your image. The transition from cooler to warmer tones works very well for me, especially together with the subtle pattern of the ripples. The filigree details of the twigs anchore the composition nicely to me and add a lot of interest.

I really like the way the reflections in the water go from orange to blue! The plant anchors the scene in a very pleasantly simple way.

Nathan I think you achieved your objectives very well with this image. Quiet, simple and simply beautiful. Chet

I like the abstract potential of this, though this is muted somewhat in the wider comp.

Great to hear all your thoughts!

Would a crop from the right improve this? I also have a vertical (if I get around to it, I'll post it here)...

I like this and could see a square comp for this as well.
