Ice Etchings

This image to me represents the complexity and chaos of life. An ice abstract converted to B&W with Silver Efex Pro. It was taken in Jan 2009 back on our pond in Sudbury, MA. I like the contrast and eccentric lines and shapes. For sure compression is killing this since I had to save at 20% for the larger version. Thanks for having a look at this quagmire of shapes and contrasts.

The detail in the large image is incredible. There is a "silvery" look overall, which really works well in b&w.

Enlarged is very cool  Great job
Since this looks metallic, you should get a metal print of it for your wall. :wavey:

I didn't think much of the thumbnail Eva, but I'm glad I clicked on this! Those tones and patterns are thoroughly engrossing, especially in the large version!

It almost has a Jackson Pollack feel to it..even in b+w. Very nice.

This image to me represents the complexity and chaos of life - Eva McDermott

I agree with your intention and with the reactions of the others. What I would add to your own comment on it is how it reminds ones distant, primal memory of our origins, and of the relevance of a Pierre Teilhard de Chardin's profound insight into the dynamic relationship between entropy and order.

That's a pretty wild (and pretty, wild) collection of shapes and textures. Imagine turning it into a jigsaw puzzle. Great job of seeing and processing.

Thanks all for your comments and input. I really had fun with this image. I do see a lot of "eyes" in this image. Anyway, thanks again.

Wow, Eva, this is flat out amazing. The detail is incredible of course but your b/w processing is stellar, with an amazing range of tones and bringing out silvery nuances in the ice that is beyond belief. Fantastic image that is even better with the larger size image. A jaw dropper in my opinion.

A little late here Eva, but just wanted to let you know that I think this is fascinating and fantastic! Get's better and better with size of course, but the tones, texture and details all combine for a wonderful, metallic abstract. Another image that is just begging for an old fashioned silver gelatin print.
