Heaven On Earth

One of the most amazing scenes I have witnessed in Grand Teton National Park. The thick layer of fog covering the valley and cloud covered skies left to question whether the sun would appear as anticipated. Moments later, the peaks were bathed in an amazing display of golden light which I can only describe as "Heaven on Earth".

Thanks for your comments!

That is amazing light. The warm/cool contrast is wonderful. I also like the pano format. Is this a cropped version or a stitch of several? I hope several so it could be printed very large.

Kudos for being at the right place at the right time, the skill to capture it, and the patience to wait for it. A wonderful image. :toast:

You are right the light is really sweet. I really wish you had included a larger version. This is a pano and it is very hard to evaluate without a larger version included. I really like the light and the composition.

Beautiful light and atmospheric conditions. The trees sticking into bottom of frame poses a problem to me. Especially the one on the left. It's just too close to bottom of frame. Other than that, it's an amazing photo.

That is some amazing light. I love the purple/yellow combination and the textures in the clouds to the right of the mtns. I'm torn about the trees at the bottom, thinking that they are somewhat distracting but liking the feeling of depth that they add. If they're not totally black in the original files, dodging them might be one way to keep their effect but reduce how much attention they pull.

Beautiful conditions and I love the capture and the panoramic format! I think the trees are distracting at the bottom, but I'm not sure of you have cropped from a more inclusive view or if this was how it was shot. I personally would clone them out, crop them out, or include more of them. Dodging I think would be very tricky because of the fog surrounding them. The rest is perfection or "heaven on earth" as you have so aptly named it.

What a great set of conditions that were bestowed upon you! I'm with Mark and Debbie about the trees. Rather than dodge, cloning then out may be an option. Some spots on the peaks' snow seem a little hot in this small version. Aside from these two nits, I'd be ecstatic to capture this.

Whoa, lots of drama here. The atmospherics are amazing and the warm/cool contrast in the light is stunning. It must have been an awe inspiring experience to see this scene unfold.

Truly a wonderful moment in time Drew - one you will certainly remember and cherish. NO nits from me, other than I wish there was a larger view (although your purchase view is little better and shows well on your site.)

Wonderful landscape!

Drew, fantastic capture. I agree that the tree on the bottom left is a detractor. clone that out...what tree...I didn't see any tree ... I only saw fiery skies and soft cloud.... :jump:
