Homelessness is down nation wide but Washington D.C. has seen increases in the past few years. There are many reasons for this and I’m exploring this social issue for a long-term project. I’m going to shot the entire project using a Leica M6 and one lens, a 35mm as a personal challenge to myself. In this photo DC Central Kitchen on Capitol Hill has over 5,000 volunteers a year come through the Kitchen. Church groups from across the country, local high school and college students, employees of major corporations, and individuals seeking to make a difference in the community help to prepare 3,000 meals a day, 365 days a year. Here a man waits for the Central Kitchen to open in the early morning hours.

The harshness of the lighting goes quite well with the harshness of the situation. I like this a lot.

Striking image - sad, but telling.
Congrats on the WP!
