Took this in 2010 when I used my 40D, the way the light caught this rose caught my attention.
C&C welcome

Canon 40D, 100-400L @ 400mm, 1/1250sec, f/9, iso640, AP, Eval metering, handhled and croped for composition.

I like the way the light is shining through the rose & the shadows cast by the back petals. I also like the green & blue background. I am wondering if you could recover a little bit more detail in the buds but it's not a deal breaker:)

Thanks Eirini, I reworked the photo for the buds as much as I think I could push it?

I think the buds are greatly improved....but now you lost a little bit of the pretty light on the flower! Do you have software that will allow you to make brush changes to just one portion? It is very slight but the light on top image seems a tad brighter...giving it a little more contrast from the background. Perhaps you could just bump up the luminance/ red highlights a hair and that would do the trick maybe?

David:
When I first looked at the image, my eyes are immediately drawn to the rose petals and the shadow and I like the bloom. I find the dark buds seems to draw my eyes away and the image would be great without the buds. However, seen what you did with the repost by bring up the light to the buds seem to work as well.

David: Beautiful rose and a solid capture. I think I would keep working this until you strike the right balance. >=))>
