Red Sky in the Morning

This is not what I had wanted to take this morning. When I left home well before sunrise, there were all kinds of stars in the sky. By the time I got to the place I wanted to shoot, the clouds had moved in on the eastern horizon. I took what the sunrise gave me. I would really be interested to hear what others think of this image. Two images combined for exposure.

Canon 40D
Sigma 17-70
Shutter 1/8 & 1/13
Aperture f14
ISO 400
17mm
Tripod
Curves, levels and sharpening in PSE9

Richard, I like this image for its wonderful color and contrast. The black fg is enough to make a nice base for the beautiful sky you have going. Nice work!!!

Beautiful sunrise! As noted, the dark ridgeline works great to show it off.
Not sure why you needed a two image blend for exposure, though.

Stunning dynamics in the pattern of the clouds for me, Richard. Although the sun is almost centered, the bottom and the clouds make for an appealing asymmetry to my eye.

Excellent color and you handled the reds and oranges well. That's not easy with a Canon. I like the transition of color through the clouds.

This is a beautiful sunrise shot and your presentation works great. The small dark part at the bottom works well and is a good contrast to this strong sunrise colors. Beautiful sky.
