The Gloaming

Last gasp of twilight, Isle of Harris, Scotland. I had to duel Alex Mody for this spot - we did twenty paces with pistols, I shot his beard off to win (unfortunately it grew back). This image illustrates a recent blog post of mine about creative use of white balance .

P.S. It's dark on purpose.

Great dynamics for me, Ian, and firmly anchored by the mighty rocks. You immediately draw me into the depth to focus on the last daylight, that appears somehow comforting to me within the otherwise forboding scene.

I like this a whole lot. Your crafting is superb. You'll need to charge more per print since this image will require a lot more ink!

That's o.k. llamas can see in the dark. :jump: Wonderful palette and mood, Ian! And, I love the term gloaming which makes for a perfect title here, and is so fitting for Scotland. :toast:

Strong mood and colors. Makes me want to head for a crackling fire and a warm brandy.

Nice how the foreground leads you into the shot. Very mysterious mood. I like the blue tone. You could probably do several nice versions of the this image with different white balances.

I love it. Cool shot!

My nit is that it is too small here. I'd like to see into it.
