Dune Grass and Gorse

Findhorn, Moray, Scotland

Several people have mentioned they liked this after seeing my Scotland slide show so I decided to post this as my next post. The yellow flowering brush are called gorse and smell like coconut sun tan lotion. Thanks for having a look and for your comments.

BTW - Check out Lon's Forum post and post a link to your 12 favorite images from 2012.

Eva this is a really gorgeous image. I love your comp and the color combinations are beautiful. What are the yellow plants, to someone like me who was born and raised in the Great Plains it reminds me of goldenrod.

Eva,

This is impressively beautiful and unique! I can't say I've seen anything like it, especially with the row of trees to finish off the composition up top. I really love this one Eva. Initially my mind says I want to see more trees up top, but in truth, their inclusion is just perfect. I love the exponential reduction in space from the field of grass to the flowers to the trees. this is really an outstanding image. One my favorites of yours!

Lon

btw, thanks for posting the link to the "Best of" post. It seems to be picking up some steam! Truly remarkable imagery!

Hmmmmm.....I think I've seen this some place before.
Like I said earlier, it sure caught my eye while reviewing your body of work. This works so nicely the way it is laid out with the very distinct 3 layers or tiers from front to rear. Truly a really nice idea on this one, Eva.

Great texture and detail throughout Eva you did so very well at Findhorn remind me to take you to Hopeman one time if you are over in March / April this place is so overrun with blazing gorse that the smell of coconut becomes intoxicating and leaves you feeling almost giddy.

Wow! The layering is perfect, and the difference between each is really great. Great eye in seeing this image. I almost wonder if a slight crop from the bottom may improve this, but I'm not sure myself. Really enjoying this---especially the large version! :wavey:

This is certainly different but very effective. I love the "layered" look. The hint of trees in the BG just hold your interest in this remarkable image.

Love those layers, Eva, with a most amazing array of textures and form. From the clumps of grasses to the gorse to the far treeline. Love it. I might actually crop a little off the bottom to eliminate the tangle of grasses in the lower right hand corner, and in turn emphasize the more regular clumps of grass, as well as those three outstanding layers.
So between your image and Ian's, my misconception of a treeless Scotland is most definitely out the window.

I found this one especially intriguing when viewing your Scotland slide show. Loved the music as well as all of the great images you made over there. What a photogenic land! I really like the comp with the different colored and toned layers. Excellent work!

This is weird - I could have sworn that I'd already commented on this, but I guess not. Lovely details in the grass and flowers, and I like the three layered look as well.
