Captured on a frigid morning in Banff National Park (10 degrees below zero), this image still holds as the most amazing scene I have witnessed to date. The sky was completely overcast just minutes before the shot and I almost packed up to leave until the brilliant display of color and beams behind Mt Rundle appeared before me. Later that day I heard there was a grizzly roaming the same area the night before; glad he decided not to show up during the shoot.

Thanks for your comments!

Holy moly that is some ridiculous light! Definitely makes Mt Rundle appear more dramatic. Very nice comp too. Might have to plan a trip here sometime soon.

Awesome, Drew! I'm glad that you remained at the site until the light was right.
Wonderful light and well composed with the curving stream in the FG.

Drew,

Gorgeous image of Rundle and the surrounding landscape. The lead-in is wonderful and the colors/sat look spot on to me. the sky is killer with those rays of light. I can see why this one might hold a special place for you.

Oh, the frosty rim along the left of the waterway is wonderful too. Fabulous landscape image.

Beautiful colors and great composition. The fact that the colors are echoed throughout the scene really brings this image together.

The leading lines in the foreground are fantastic. And you can't beat that amazing color. Gorgeous. Good thing you hung around a little while longer.

Lovely. The white on the water banks sure adds a nice touch here.
