My husband at first said about this one: " It's ok for what it is"...then later said he thinks it is too boring composition & color-wise. I love his honesty!

But you don't however have to squint as hard to see this one!:)

I really appreciate all the helpful comments I have been getting. I use Apple Aperture for processing & I play around with all sorts of graphs and sliders that say "luminance" but I am not exactly sure what I am doing but I enjoy it anyhow.

Eirini,

This is interesting to me - especially in the larger version. I think part of my problem is in not knowing where to rest my eye at in the composition. Maybe that's not necessary though. These may just need to be seen larger. I like the image as posted.

My favorite of these has been the Citrus in Vase and I think that's because there was some place my eye rested naturally.

Eirini: All of these elicit a different response but I like this one a lot. Good judgment on the amount of jug showing and I like the lighting very much, especially on the larger version. Most excellent! >=))>

Eirini, yes, both the comp and the lighting in this one are more standard, but the image work for me. I like both the lighting and the comp. Well done.

Too bright! Just kidding. I like this as posted, even though my eye is restless, looking for a place to stop. I agree with Pat, but at the same time I also agree there may not be a need, except to be seen larger. At any rate, you are well outside the box. There is a lot to be said for exploring! Too many of us stick with the "tried and true", myself included.

Eirini - I like this one much better than the previous ones. Composition appeals to me here and the lighting though subdued is more uniform without any area getting undue attention.

I like this series a lot. It reminds me of renaissance painting which focused on light as a way out of darkness. The negative space in this series gives me a sense of emergence of the aspect to our awareness through reflected light that is recorded. This is in contrast the sense we might have in a more traditional, well lit image of the objects as independently extent, self-existent.

I also think that the choice of ordinary, common place glass jugs and jars as vases is an important factor in generating this feeling in that again, the object itself is implied by specular highlights and consists mostly of negative space.

I really like the catch light on the vase...I was told (by a professor) that this is hard to do. Not sure why, cause I get them all the time. I like the arrangement...have you printed it out? I find that sometimes if it's printed I find I can better work on it...not that it needs any improvement. But I sometimes find something I don't like in my own photos...
