Interesting concept with the warmth of a summer day coming through even with the b&w treatment. I'd be interested in seeing what the colored version looked like.

Forget the photo, i just liked the title
Id crop the dark part up top so you get more of a tunnel effect. cool shot.

John,

Perfect scene for the effective use of IR. At least, that's what I'm assuming giving the only info we have is your title. If there was frost/snow everywhere, it would be on the road too. ;-) Regarless though, it works beautifully! The depth created by the lead-in of the road works very well and I like the open patch of sky too.

Technically, I think the large version is starting to suffer from some softness - looks like from any number of reasons: fairly shallow depth of field, larger aperture, leaf movement - probably a good breeze, and/or combined with web compression. Interesting though, the small version looks better to my eye. Hopefully it's something you can improve on as this is a fine image.

I am going to move to the Man & Nature gallery after posting my comment. The path/road is a major element in the frame and of course evidence of man. Hope that makes sense - feel free to contact any of the mods if you have any questions.

Thanks for posting, I like this image a lot.

Sort of pulls you right in...Nice image for IR conversion. Wondering if this was shot with an IR camera or film, or conversion? Think a few rounds of sharpening may be worth a try.

Very nice moody Photo!
I like the mood, B&W, the path, idea
Dislike: maybe a little soft because of the wind, but the idea is stronger than the technicality.
I love it.

Where am I going? What's around the bend?
The dark spot doesn't really bother me...it kind of gives an illusion that there might be danger ahead...even though things seem peaceful at the moment. But on the other hand...either way might work, depending on what you're looking for.
Thanks for all the comments, HollyMorris

Strong comp John and I love the detail in it.

Interesting image for me... The white seems natural to me - maybe because I'm used to seeing black and white images.
