Rainyday Lilypads #3

Here's another look at the lily pads in my pond after an overnight rain. In what's unusual for me, I'm gradually getting farther away from the subject. This is an 11 image stack that was taken with the polarizer adjusted to maximize the reflections. (A quick test showed that this adjustment gives a very different result from either the no polarizer or the minimum reflection versions.) Post processed with a TK triple play and luminosity painting. (5D3, 100mm macro L, 0.3s, f/14, iso 200, tripod, cable release, and mirror lock up

This is a neat series! I like in this one how the water forms several bands around the lily pads as well as the reflection of the sky & tree in the water surrounding them while still being able to see the objects under the surface! You are making me want to try out a polarizer! I like the larger version because there are so many tiny details that would otherwise be missed...such as the spray of tiny drops on the pads.

Another nice one in the series, Mark, although my favorite remains the previous one. As with the previous versions, I like the colors and raindrops. The variety of colors in this one is nice. So, you also shot this same scene with the CPL rotated to minimize the reflections? I am unsure about the reflections, and would therefore be interested in comparing this one to the version with the one with the minimized reflections.

Scott, and anyone else who's interested. I've posted a series of pictures that show the effects of the polarizer or no polarizer both with ACR processing and without processing in the Flora forum. here

Another beauty Mark. Strong comp again and I love the water in this one as well as the superb detail. Can't do it now but certainly plan to look at the forum entry and thank you for putting it up.

Mark - The stacking really highlights the micro detail here. Even small drops of water are seen so clearly and sharp  . The different tones in the lily pad provide some excellent contrast making the frame pop.

Well, since nobdy has mentioned it, what I find intriguing about this one is the water surface tension. Also, some of the large drops would make amazing macro subjects, I think.

Mark, a striking image! It's incredible the amount of details that HDR and a polarizer filter together can find out in the bottom of the pond.
Best wishes for the coming year, that we hope brand new.
