My siter-in-law had an open house last night, and just before we left my wife showed me this little gift she'd made for her sister. Oftentimes siblings have more or less disturbing memories of childhood. At family gatherings, my wife tells the story of how her younger sister once cut the hair off her entire, prized Barbie doll collection, and the sense of horror she experienced in that discovery.
Fast forward to her receipt of over 300 Barbie heads from a friend when his employer shut down operations that included painting the heads for Mattel. I learned that the idea of making this vase occurred to her a few weeks ago, and I decided to take a snapshot before we left home. The open house was a lot of fun. Most of the guys there were chemists like me, and we had a wonderful time discussing the highest atomic number element known and possible, but yet unknown.

2 commentsI waited until the last minute; this was a present for my wife's sister, we had to leave in five minutes, and I had the white background up already.
