There have been numerous White-winged Crossbills showing up in New England but this is the first Red Crossbill I've seen and been able to photograph. Here a male foraging at Salisbury State Park in Massachusetts.

I really like the warm browns of the feathers, the pose and the detail. I think the pine cone to the left also complements the bird. Was this a crop? It might be worth trying a little more canvas to the bottom and to the right if you have the room to give the bird a little more to gaze into. Thanks for posting this Charles!

Really nice Chuck. Cool bird and great habitat. Comp works for me as the bird is looking on the diagonal and the corner is far enough away IMO.

I like this a lot Chuck, as posted. The bird looks very nice and the setting is pleasing and appropriate for the species. Nice head turn, too.

I like the pose, the evergreen perch and the pine cone and the interesting bird which I have never seeen in Texas. Good catchlight and good crop too. Nice job.

Excellent capture Chuck. We also can expect White-winged Crossbills each winter but for the last winter we have also had the Red Crossbills which has been a nice treat.

Wonderful detail in the larger image and I like the pose. Always interesting to see those crossing beaks, way to go.
