Trying to Sneak By

This is an entirely different kind of image for me. I didn't intentionally decide to capture it as such, it just sort of happened. Yesterday, when I entered to nature preserve, it was just about sunrise with some fog. Therefore, I had the ISO up to 1000 and the aperture as wide as I could. As the techs show, that still only gave me 1/20th SS. So as this young buck was briskly walking by I had to go with the flow of his movement and hope that the image would still be sharp. Well, as you can see part of it is and the rest isn't. But it made for a nice study of motion blur. I added half a stop in the RAW processor as it looked darker than I remember. Parts I like and parts I don't, but overall I find this a neat image. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it. Particularly if there is any way to improve on what I've got here.

Tech Info

Canon 60D with 70-200mm f/4L and 1.4 TC = 280mm
1/20th@ f/5.6 and ISO 1000

Panning effects can be quite interesting and here you have the face and antlers almost frozen. I think the lack of lighting hurts the overall impact...but this is a great effect to work for.

I like this a lot. It has a painterly, almost surreal look to it. A good experiment in my book.
