Taken at Bryce Canyon. Unfortunately, this needed very little conversion, as it was mostly black and white to begin with. For me there was a sense of human pathos in the way the tree stood there with it's limbs extending outward.

Canon 7d
17-40 mm
f6.3
1/320 sec
ISO 200
processed in ACR and PS5

thanks for looking and any comments you might have.

Strong graphic presentation. I also like the subtle marbling of clouds in the washed out sky; it lends a textural quality that softens the background so that it provides some depth and doesn't compete with the starkness of the trees.

Great environmental shot. I would like to see the entire tree in the frame though

Very nice - thre starkness is excellent in B&W.

Very crisp and in-focus B&W image, Allen. The tree does seem to be reaching imploringly for . . .something? The background trees provide a nice setting to showcase this one tree. Would wish the sides of the image were a little "cleaner" without the partial vertical tree trunks on both sides--would be an easy fix with just a bit more cropping on each side. Nice find.

Your stump makes me think of a science fiction monster, flailing at the photographer. Nicely seen and captured.
