Since I don't do much black and white, this week's challenge is definitely a challenge.
This was taken at Bryce Canyon on the Bristlecone Loop Trail.

Canon 7d
17-40mm at 20 mm
1/640
f 6.3
ISO 200

Thanks for looking and any comments you wish to leave.

It will be a tough challenge with such level of photography.
I like: sky, composition, B&W
dislike: Aspect ratio

Very nice conversion in that it maintains good tonal separation among the elements of the ground, trees, and sky.

The B&W treatment really helps all the fantastic texture in this image to stand out. I like the sandy foreground texture, the sharp lines of the trees, and the smooth swirly shadings of that brooding sky. Very nice comp which is perfect for your vertical orientation. The larger image looks somewhat soft.

To me this is just beautiful. I love the lines and the tones and just the subjects themselves along with the background from top to bottom.

My first response to this was "This is a stunner". Then I looked at the larger version. Weird. I don't think I have ever seen the smaller version look so much better that the larger version. Sticking to the version I like, the sky is just excellent. The trees may be a touch much, but they are still very impressive. I find the earth below to be too hot for my viewing pleasure.

I agree that for some reason the smaller version looks better. I'm not sure, but I may have created the larger version from the smaller version. Big oops. I won't make that mistake again. I'd remove the larger version, in fact, but I can't figure out how to do it.

Thanks for all the comments.
