Very much like the comp with the off-center bare tree. Could maybe see whiting up the branches of the bare tree a bit more to make make it stand out.

A very pleasant image. I like the feel you have captured here. I can feel the cool and crispness of the mountain air. For me an image is a success if it puts me in the scene. Well seen and photographed.

Very good concept and presentation! Not much to critique here, this looks flawless to my eye.

Robb,
Great find! I really like your chosen composition as the starkness of the bare aspen contrasts beautifully with the surrounding stand of trees. Well seen and crafted.
I would call this a nit, but an observation/suggestion. This appears to have a somewhat strong yellow color cast (duh, ok, yellow aspens,) but for some reason it seems more global than just yellow leaves. Even the whiteness of the dead one seems on the warm side. This kinda goes along with TK's comment about bringing up the whites in that tree. All a personal choice, so again not really a correction, but something to consider.
I like this image a lot. Actually reminds me of the campgrounds up in Lundy Canyon. Could be...

The one dead tree makes this stand out from what would be just a mundane shot of an aspen grove. I would probably brighten this up a little. Well seen Robb!

Robb, your composition with the repetitive pattern and the one bare tree breaking it works very well to me. I enjoy the autumn foliage a lot, while the darker foreground grasses anchore the image nicely for me. A larger version or even print would certainly reveal delightful details.

Great comp Robb! This really captures the fall mood for me. I bet this would make a wonderful print too. It does seem to have a bit of an overall yellow cast, but still a very beautiful scene!

Nice framing of the whitish tree with the three dimensional crowd of other trees. It appears the darker base adds stability, nice touch.

Excellent comp. I would echo the comments of Lon and Tony. I think you can get a lot more separation of tone and color with a bit of tweaking. Real sweet image.

Thanks for the comments:
Tony, Lon, Harley and Joseph- points well taken to brighten the trunks to increase the contrast, I think it's an improvement
Lon- this little grove is up near Green Creek, but I could see how you might think it's Lundy
Peter and Nick- I agree with its potential as a large print and is in cue for space on our gallery wall
Vlad- very perceptive comment about the darker areas below the trees. I shot this scene twice, both times in full shade, but once the sun was in the front of the grove, the other time it was behind. I had expected the indirect front-lit version was going to be preferable. As it turns out I liked the indirect back-lit version for the very reason you mentioned.
