Canada Goose

Unfortunately, I haven't had much chance to shoot, or use my new Sigma I got some months ago. So I went out for a ride just to find what I could. It's "only" a Canada Goose flight shot, but the best I've done and a good opp to practice with the new lens. Larger posted, D90, ISO-400, 1/1000th, f-8.0, 450mm, manual. Did a slight burn on the white feathers just below the neck black, pretty decent crop. Thanks for your C&C!

Good detail on the bird. Something less than f/8 would have got you the same with better separation from the BG (although I have heard that lens has a sweet spot at f/8). I think I would have to satisfy myself about the sweet spot.

Pleasant image Bill. Nice color in the goose. Do wish the head was sharper. Need to get out and shoot more myself. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Jim:

Congrats on your purchase! You have a nice color palate in the image. Looks like your focus point is on the rear wing as it seems sharper than the head. With a longer FL, any error in focusing is magnified.

Best of luck with your Sigma. I am sure you will enjoy using it. :toast:
