When I made my last trip to Danube Floodplains in Lower Austria some days ago, almost all autumn colors were gone. Yet on my way back at dusk I found these remains of glowing foliage.

I like this concept, having tried to execute it myself less successfully this fall here in the USA. I don't know if you noticed it or not, but to me the two patches of sky showing through the wood evoke in my mind the thought of eyes, giving the woods a sense of a "being" sort of.
In the larger view, which is spectacular in its sharpness, to my eye, I also note the very interesting muted pastel color contrasts between red, green, and yellow.
I think it would be interesting to look at various crops of this if you shot in in RAW with a sensor of sufficient pixel density. In summary, very interesting and danke for posting it (I can say a few words in Deutsch)

Peter,
Excellent! And I gotta thank John for that observation too, the "eyes" have it! Totally changes my outlook on this one. But even without that, great vision on this one and and a great addition to your series. Nice work.

The large view is stunning Peter. I too see the "eyes of the forest". The yellow leaves in the foreground and delicate smaller white leaves throughout add a lot of interest to the scene.

Beautiful detailed image. Way to pull an image out of chaos. And great job avoiding compression issues for web presentation. Both look great and tough to do with such a detailed image.

I knew this was yours at first glance Peter! A wonderful image..large version even more impressive. Makes me think of some of Eliot Porter's work! Beautiful work...

Love the lines of the tree branches, the delicate detail in the leaves, and that burst of autumn color. I'll be the contrary one of the bunch as I think the sky patches distract from the delicate beauty that you have extracted from the chaos of this forest. I'd be trying to decrease the luminosity and somehow blending these areas with the background foliage. Just one old guys opinion of course. Either way, a beautiful image.

Very nice indeed Peter, really like the way you composed this, and that little touch of yellow anchors it very well. Beautifully seen and presented.

Another image that represents the character of this place so well. The strong diagonals amids the fine details of the little leaves gives this the subtle but needed structure. Of course the yellow leaves add a lot too. And I have noticed the eyes that John mentioned, a bit creepy...

I like the play of light on the foilage and the dash of bright color. Well done!

I somehow missed making a comment on this image earlier. This is fantastic Peter - downright magical IMO. The large version is absolutely breathtaking. Superb capture.
