Thank you for the feedback on my last image. Having other critical photographic eyes look at my work is very helpful in fine tuning my photos before printing.

I am ready to move on to the work I did this year in Yosemite on the recent trip with Lon and Preston. I have been very impressed with the work Lon has shown us so far. I will also move through my photos chronologically. Lon and Preston were there two days ahead of me and I stayed on one day after they left. So they saw some more favorable light, but Yosemite is Yosemite and its beautiful in any light.

This was my first photo on my first morning in the Valley. It was in El Capitan meadow. The way the two main trees were just reaching out to each other and intertwining their branches was alluring to my eye.

In addition to that what I find very appealing about the photo is its apparent three dimensional feel.

It was made under open blue sky. I did not use a warming filter as I normally do under such light when I use Fuji Provia and color balancing the image was a trial. So I am interested in what you think about the color.

The detail in the full resolution file is also staggering. I had to save both the small and larger version at lower than desired quality levels to post.

4x5, Nikkor 500mm Telephoto, f32, 2 sec, Fuji Provia 100F, developed in CS5 using TK luminosity masks, Saturation masks, and Triple Play actions as well as some other masking techniques to deal with color.

Your comments appreciated.

Very interesting. I love the trees on the edges and the way they frame the scene. The exposure looks good and all looks sharp to me. I almost want to say that there is nothing for yours eyes to rest on but the more you look at this, especially the larger version, you realize that this is the the beauty of this image. The trees frame the image and sort of pull you in, especially different is that is pulls you form the outside in, and the top down. The more I look the more I like it! Very nice

Very thoughtfully composed, Youssef! The post-processing looks right on to me.
I really like the larger version.

Any more detail as what must be in the original would make this image pop off the page. Nicly done, Ismail. The dark trunks and branches serve to highlight those delightful colors as well.

Beautiful, Youssef. I love the trunk pattern set off against the brilliant color. I am seeing a bit of a magenta cast on my screen? I see it overall, but most noticeable on the trunks in the large version? I am definitely liking this a lot.

Love it Youssef! Great design the way you crafted this as the oaks do indeed look like they're "reaching out."

As much time as I've spent in this meadow, I'm having a hard time placing this. It must have been where you were just as we were finishing up that morning? You must have been on the far west end of the meadow, and this is looking back to the north? Anyway, it doesn't matter. Just goes to show that you can visit a place a thousand times and still find new and beautiful images.

I think I agree with Harley about the magenta in the "gray" parts of the trunks. Very subtle, but still there. Maybe it's because I have a habit of automatically removing a lot of magenta from my own images.

Looking forward to all your images from the trip. I got another one posting next.

Thank you for the feedback on the magenta. I had already removed quite a bit and was feeling it was starting to look too green. But after being away from it for several hours and coming back I could still see the magenta. I removed more of it, again through the use of a mask to target just areas that have it. Does it look better? too green?

Lon this was the first photo I made on Saturday morning when we all ventured out into El Capitan Meadow. If you recall we had headed over to the south side of the meadow trying to get into that mist only to find the closer we got the less prominent it became. You and Preston continued down the foot path towards the Merced and I started wandering around in the grass. I was facing south-west into the meadow with Cathedral Rocks as my background.

Youssef,

Yep, the repost took care of it. Glad you masked it as well, it was mainly the tree trunks where I noticed it. thanks for taking the time to re-work and post.

I like your comp Youssef. The leaning trees create a window which lets the viewer look beyond the immediate view to the trees in the background and granite wall. Gorgeous autumn color especially in the repost.

Hey Youssef: I like the repost version much better. I also love the way the trees frame the image and create a visual balance. Well done!

Definitely like the colors. Compositionally I also like the way the A-frame branches invite me underneath. Just look at this large. Definitely worth it to better appreciate the detail. Maybe a bit picky, but that one yellow leaf under the frame is a bit distracting to me.

Love the angles of these trees, Youssef, like an entryway inviting the viewer to explore a beautiful palette of fall color. Your repost has corrected the magenta perfectly. Those Nikkor telephotos are great lenses on a 4x5. Fantastic.
