Pectoral Sandpiper?

I spent several hours over the past year tracking down shorebirds, using my kayak.

With little experience with these birds, my ID's may be off.

Nikon D300; 500mm; f 5.6@ 1/640th; ISO 200; approx. 60% FF; HH from kayak.

All suggestions and comments (and species confirmation) most welcome.

I will not be able to help confirm the ID but I do like the nice detail, pose and feather patterns that are shown in the larger image, nice job in getting this from a kayak, well done.

Nice pose with the raised foot. Very good detail as well. You might consider giving just a bit more room all around. :toast:

A beautiful portrait of this (?) sandpiper Tom  I like the raised foot. The dark mud and green background work well together.

Sweet One!!!

Two-toned beak, clean break between the streaked breast and white belly - looks like a pectoral to me. I agree with the previous comments - the detail in the plumage is excellent.

Beautiful capture of an interesting bird. Love the muddy beak and foot, the angle, and the vegetation popping up out of the soggy ground.
