Thanks for your comments and help on the previous post. I really appreciate it. I'll get back to some more grasses in a bit, but now, back to the trees.

I think this one is more typical of many of my tree images. Would love to here your thoughts and comments. Captured the morning of our second day. We moved on from Leidig Meadow to El Cap Meadow before the sun started scorching the valley floor.

Thanks!

I like the background very much as it helps the trees really stand out. I also like the opposing diagonals in the composition set up by the trees and lines in the background. Nicely done Lon

Very nice scene, Lon. I like the way you have displayed the tree against the granite wall. Color, contrast, and comp all work for me.

A classic Lon Yosemite image. The back wall might be a touch blue for my tastes, but nobody ever said I had good taste. Real nice image, Lon.

Overall placement of the left side of the tree with the granite wall as a backdrop for the composition is excellent here, Lon. Just enough clearance around the extended limbs to fill the frame without crowding it too. Colors and clarity provided in the larger version is a must see to really appreciate the outstanding detail from the field capture and post processing technical sides. From your recent email it sounds like you still have a decent cache left from the short trip to the valley awhile back now too. I know you're posting in order of shots taken, but this one would be high on my list to date with all around appeal on all levels.

Perfect light as well as the processing of it, the temp is pure Goldilocks - just right! I really like these intimate portraits(?) of the valley floor. And then there's the comp. Love the arrangement of the branches and the placement of the tree on the left side. Looks very well thought out and executed.

Thanks for the comments so far folks!

Youssef - amazing, I never once considered the opposing diagonals between the trees and cliff - and it's been mentioned a couple times already.

Russell, I'm so glad you mentioned the other tree on the left side. Yes, it was considered - thanks for noticing. I kinda like the inclusion of that tall pine; it fills what would have been a void I think and adds some additional interest.

Thanks folks!

Lon

Lon, I agree with the others--I like the lines of the rocks against the randomness of the tree branches. I also like the way you have the trunk going into the corner of the frame. Somehow that works for me. Very nice composition.

Everything you would want in the comp and nothing you don't want. Expertly crafted. I also like the contrasts in colors, tones, and lines. Very nice indeed.

Warm fall foliage against the cool, blue stone is a really nice combination. Your composition brings out the best of both tree and cliff. Nice !

Now that those opposing diagonals are mentioned, wow, I'm really liking this image! The sines and curves in the tree are nicely contrasted by the bright leaves. Gotta like this one...

A wonderful tree image, Lon! Considering your tree portfolio this isn't a grandslam, but
it's certainly a homer with at least one runner on. Composed perfectly in my opinion
and it looks like you have the correct color in the granite wall. As always thanks for
sharing.

A perfect image in all aspects, Lon. Love how you have filled the frame with the design of this beautiful tree and how the curves and lines of the branches complement the diagonals in the rock face behind. I seem to use the word exquisite with so many of your images that it seems inadequate to describe the beauty of this image. Jaw dropping exquisite.

Hi Lon, omit my comment on your grass image - but I mentioned already that I like it a lot.
This is one of your very typical, yes archetypical Lon images. Perfectly balanced, just enough space for the granite on the left. The inclusion of the pine at the border nicely frames this side and "closes" the scene. Then of course the ornamental branches that create the main interest. It is another, wonderful, tree portrait of yours.

There you go again! Your trees are so special. Love them and all the great images you come back with on your portrait sessions. I think the inclusion of the pine on the left is perfect. :toast:
