The sequel

Some of you may recognise this image.
But, to continue with the story.....As I said we were the only vehicle with this female, and by our cautious approach, we had gained her confidence. I rotated my camera to portrait format mode, and took off the teleconverter, in order to get her full image, tail and all. After we had had our fill of images, we gave permission to our driver to contact other vehicles in the vicinity, over the wireless. Soon after a jeep full of noisy tourists drove in at full speed and screeched to a halt on seeing the leopard on the tree. All the calmness and serenity vanished, and with those, so did the poise of the leopard. She immediately ran vertically down the tree and vanished. Because my camera was already in portrait mode, I was able to click 6 images before she disappeared into the bushes below the tree. This was the final image in that series.
If you thought you had seen this image somewhere, you are right - it got me the Runners-up award in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year in the Animal Behaviour-Mammals section in 2009.
